A wide variety of welcoming groups open to all offer great opportunities for exercise and maintaining your wellbeing. The sports and exercise classes offered by the adult education centres cater for a wide variety of people, regardless of their age, gender or level of fitness. You can choose to maintain your fitness in a familiar group of people you will get to know well or branch out and try an entirely new sport. All classes are designed to improve your functional ability and promote your health and wellbeing. Doing sport as part of a group is invigorating and helps you to make regular exercise a lasting habit, while providing you with the opportunity to have fun and socialise. Many of the adult education centres also offer dance classes. In total, exercise classes represent some 13 per cent of all provision.
In addition to exercise, the centres also offer a variety of courses focused on wellbeing and healthy lifestyles. There is also a wide variety of self-help and life skills courses, while cookery courses offer plenty of food for thought on healthy living.
